Dhanvantari Stotram & Ashtakam
Healing • Health • Vitality
The Divine Physician — no traditional 40-verse chalisa exists. Instead we recite the full Dhanvantari Stotram, Gayatri and Ashtakam (12 sacred verses). A complete recitation counts as one Chalisa in your practice.
About Dhanvantari Stotram & Ashtakam
Sacred mantras to Lord Dhanvantari — the divine physician who emerged from the cosmic ocean holding the pot of amrita.
Dhanvantari is the form of Vishnu who appeared during the Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean) carrying the kalasha of amrita — the nectar of immortality. He is the originator of Ayurveda, the deity of healing, and the patron of every physician, surgeon, and seeker of wellness.
Unlike most deities, Dhanvantari's primary worship is mantra-based rather than chalisa-based. The classical mantras invoke him to remove disease at its root — physical, emotional, and karmic. Daily japa alongside Ayurvedic practice is the traditional path.
Benefits of reciting Dhanvantari Stotram & Ashtakam
- Healing of chronic and acute illnesses
- Recovery from surgery and serious medical procedures
- Mental health — anxiety, depression, addiction
- Longevity and overall vitality (ayushya)
- Blessings for doctors, healers, and caregivers
Tuesdays, Dhanteras (his appearance day), and daily during illness or recovery.
Place a kalasha of water before the deity, offer tulsi and yellow flowers, and recite the mantras 11 or 108 times. The water becomes blessed and can be sipped for healing.
