40 verses to the Mother of the Vedas — supreme source of intellect and divine clarity.
About Gayatri Chalisa
Forty verses to Maa Gayatri — the Mother of the Vedas and the supreme source of intellect and divine light.
Gayatri Chalisa is the long-form devotional companion to the Gayatri Mantra — the most sacred mantra in all of Hinduism. The verses describe the goddess as five-faced, seated on a lotus, the personification of the rising sun's wisdom-bestowing light. She is the buddhi (intelligence) behind every clear thought and the prana behind every conscious breath.
Daily recitation at sunrise (the traditional Sandhya practice) builds clarity, integrity, and a quiet mind. The Chalisa is the perfect bridge for those who feel the mantra is too short and want to dwell longer in her presence.
Benefits of reciting Gayatri Chalisa
- Sharper intellect and clearer thinking
- Spiritual awakening — the Gayatri is called the mantra of self-realization
- Peace of mind and emotional steadiness
- Success in studies and Vedic learning
- Removes ignorance (avidya) at its root
Daily at the three sandhyas (sunrise, noon, sunset). Sunrise is most powerful. Gayatri Jayanti is a peak day.
Face east at sunrise, sit on a clean asana, offer water (arghya) to the sun, and recite. Follow with 11 or 108 rounds of the Gayatri Mantra on a tulsi or rudraksha mala.
